On February 7, a news article mentioned two reports commissioned by the church in France exposing its behavior during and after the German occupation. The church can only be congratulated for its courageous stand and for having done its mea culpa. The same cannot be said about the Likud, the party in power in Israel since 1977, which is guilty of a greater crime.
The terrorist organization LEHI or Stern Gang to which belonged the Prime Minister of Israel Yitzhak Shamir not only fought the Allies during the entire World War II but also sought to form an alliance with Nazi Germany. A copy of a proposal made by Stern to form an alliance between his movement and the Third Reich was discovered in the files of the German Embassy in Turkey. Lenni Brenner's well-documented book Zionism in the Age of the Dictators, which recounted the history of Zionists' collaboration with the Fascists and Nazis, reproduces this proposal. It states: "1. Common interests could exist between the establishment of a New Order in Europe in conformity with the German concept, and the true national aspirations of the Jewish people as they are embodied by the NMO (National Military Organization, that is the Stern Organization); 2. Cooperation between the new Germany and a renewed volkish-national Hebrium would be possible; and 3. The establishment of a Jewish state on a national and totalitarian basis, and bound by a treaty with the German Reich, would be in the interest of a maintained and strengthened future German position of power in the Near East."
LEHI and Irgun veterans rule Israel today.
